Well, it getting to be that time for us to start looking for a place that we can all our own. I have set it up to go look at 3 or 4 places after the new year. One of them may already be off the market, but that is ok for I feel that it is just to far out there. One of the places that we are looking at is 20 acres with a 4 bedroom 2 bathroom mobile on it. The mobile is a newer one and a double wide with a fire place. This one that I have been looking at for some time. We can only wait and see what happens. I would love to have room for more chickens, of course you can never have to many chicken. Got to love chicken math. I would also like to be able to get my rabbits and goats. No place where I am now. Will update when I know more.

some chicken pictures

I have been playing my game or doing crafts a lot. I told a friend of mine some time back that I would get some updated pictures of my girls and gents so here they are. The Houdini triplets all would be out of the pen in the morning and was the only ones that were out. Never did find out how they were getting out. Please if you can give me an idea of what breed these might be I would love to know. I am most sure that all of them are barnyard mutts but they have to look like some breed.

Christmas present

Monday, December 26, 2011
I got a very different kind of present this year. This year one of the 4 chickens that I still have name laid there first egg. My husband named the WLRC This one and That one. This leaves two that still needs to be named.
Today I thing that another one might have laid there first egg, not 100% sure of that. I only got 6 eggs. With only getting 6 eggs, and all of them being the colors it is really hard to tell. If two more did start to lay, then I should be getting up to 11 a day.the most I will ever be able to get in a day will be 13, since that is the number of pullet/hens that I have.
In Feb. I will start to put eggs in the incubator. I would like to be to have around 24 eggs in a day. When I do start to incubate I am going to be helping out my landlord by giving him some hens so that he will have his own eggs. I can not wait till it is time to. Be using the incubator. I am also going to buy eggs so that I can get different kinds. Can not wait to see what I will get this year. What I have is most likely all barnyard mutts, but the two WLRC hens that I have.

Really again

Sunday, December 18, 2011
Well since I got the new computer just so that I would be able to play my game(world of Warcraft) and as of yet I have no idea how well it really is going to be for I have to download around 14gb again. That can take me up to 4 day to get all the way done. I am going to have to wait for a few day to be able to play again. I have tried many times to log on, but with all that has to be loaded for the first time after upgrading to the latest expansion.

The chickens are all doing well in the colder weather. I am getting up to 9 eggs in a day. I still have 4 that have to start laying sometime soon for they are around 25 weeks old, but being that it is so late in the yr they might now lay at all till spring. I have not even named them yet.

I am still keeping an eye out for a place that we can call our own. At some point we are going to find they place that is for us.

New computer

Friday, December 16, 2011
I got my new computer today and I am working on getting it up and running. I am going to have to learn a new keyboard, mouse and Windows 7. I was still using windows XP for I really did not like VISTA. We will see if a few day how it is going. I like the idea that I have a smaller keyboard but the keys are so different that I am really going to have to get use to them. Just thing I am going faster than I was since I now have a quad core. Will write more on this in a few days.

The nest box please, put them in the nest box

Tuesday, December 13, 2011
I have one chicken that is now laying on the ground. I have no idea who it is but I think it might be Miss America or Cleo since they are the last two that I have to start laying. Cleo has been checking out the nest boxes. The last two eggs that I have found have been cracked for they were laid very close the wall. I have put some more wood shaving in the area for I really don't care that one of  the girls are laying on the ground. I just need to make it a bit better for the eggs. At first I thought that there were not enough net boxes and I added another one but that did not work, for the egg was again on the ground.
Cleo is now letting me pet and pick her up. I think she has picked me as her rooster for this is getting to be a daily thing. I love that this is happen for I think she is so soft. There are a few of the others that are also letting me pet them a bit. I even got to pet Oreo and Mr. Fancy once or twice.
I am now getting up to 7 eggs. I do keep track of my egg count daily. yesterday I got 6 eggs, one on the ground that I did not count and Lucky(green eggs) did not lay so that would be up to 8 in a day.

First Snow of the Season

Monday, December 5, 2011
Well, today we are getting the first snow of the season, and Honey laid her first egg. Why is it that the weatherman will say little to no accumulation, yet the ground is becoming covered with all the snow that is coming down. So far the streets and that are not getting covered for they are to warm still. To top it all off we are out of wood to start fires, and running low on wood to burn. I am so thankful that we moved the first of the yr for now I have central heat along with the wood heat.
This is going to be the chickens first winter and this is the first snow that they are seeing. I have a tarp over have of there run, but with all the rain that we had over the last two days it is very mucky. The snow is starting to stick to the side that does not have the tarp. The chickens are staying in there coop for the most part. They do have to come out to get drinks. From time to time they will come out and look around.
This next spring I am going to try and get the run fixed so that the water from rain will not sit in there. That mean digging up a lot of rocks and dirt and putting in sand. At this time we are planning on staying here for sometime so fixing up stuff for the landlord is not a problem for us, since he is a good friend.
I got Finches that are play in the snow right outside of my door. I have put some corn out there for them and they are all around it at this time.
A guick not to any that might play World of Warcraft. I can be found on Blackhand, in a guild named The Fighting Buddhists on the horde side. Just look for Tazztraz, Tazzline, or Areline. I am always looking for people to talk to.
